A New Quilt

I have been in a creative funk lately. I just haven't gotten up the creative juices to flow so I can quilt. So the quilt that I previously stated that I am working on is just sitting there waiting to be done. Then I got the name of who we were to get a present for in our family gift exchange. We got my sister-in-law that is going off to college. So I decided that I wanted to make her a quilt. I have made a quilt out of this fabric before and had some left over. I just made it out of a different pattern. This one was so simple to cut and piece. It's a pattern from one of my fat quarter books. I decided to just tie this one. I think it turned out pretty. I will definitely have to make another one of these quilts. My sister-in-law loved it.

I need to stop taking pictures in Emma's room. The green on her walls takes away from the colors of the quilt. :)

What I'm Working On

I am excited about this fabric. I've had this jelly roll and layer cake for a while now. I am finally breaking loose and cutting into them. I just like how they look all bundled up. But I got this new pattern book that has patterns for jelly rolls, layer cakes and charm packs. It's a really great book. I found a pattern that I love and am finally going for it. I love the colors and funkiness of this fabric. I'm excited to see how it all goes together.

My First Bag!

I have been wanting to make a bag for quite a while now. I think I've been too nervous to do one. My favorite quilt store had a big display of lots of bags. There was this bag made all cute. I thought this would make a cute new scripture bag for Emma. So off I went to find the pattern book. I knew just what fabric I wanted and everything. It ended up being a really easy bag to make....luckily! Now I think I will be less nervous to attempt another one. I made most of the bag in an evening. Then procrastinated the handles. Emma loves her new bag and I am excited to have done it!

Finally Finished

After making my first lap quilt (which is still unfinished) I wanted to make a couple quilts out of charm packs. This is the second charm pack quilt that I made. (the first still is unfinished as well) I decided to put shashing in between the rows since the first one I made gave me a hard time when I was trying to get it all to line up. This quilt sat for a long time sandwiched and ready to be quilted. I just didn't know how to quilt it. So finally I decided to just get it done by tying it with embroidery floss. I got the idea from a quilt that a friend made me a long time ago. She had tied it the same way. I definitely like it better than the yarn. Anyway...I am glad that this one is finally done and I love it!

Baby Quilt

I made this baby quilt for a friend that adopted a baby boy. I love the fabrics that I found. This was also an easy, fun quilt to make. See the trend...fun and easy is the way to go. One of these days I might just branch out and do something a little more challenging.

My First Rag Quilts

My very first rag quilt.

Rag quilts are so much fun and easy to make. I made the first one for a friend that had a baby girl. The blanket is so cute. The picture doesn't do it justice. The bottom one I made for one of my sons teachers who had a baby boy. They were both thrilled to receive the blankets for their baby.

Another Gift

I made this quilt for my mom for Christmas. I love the colors of this quilt. The picture really doesn't show how pretty the quilt really is. One of my ufo's is made out of this same fabric. One of these days I'll actually get it finished. I made a friend this same quilt out of different fabric. It turned out really pretty too. This is another quilt made out of my fat quarter book. This pattern is called the Lincoln Log Lap Quilt.

Christmas Quilts

For those of you that have been reading my family blog, you have already seen some of the quilts that I have made. I have decided to do this blog instead of having my quilting projects on the family blog. So I am re-uploading pictures of quilts that I have made onto this blog. (That won't be too hard since I haven't really completed too many) :)

Anyway...I decided to make my four children each a quilt for Christmas last year. They were so thrilled to have mom make them a quilt. The three older kids quilts were made out of fat quarters. I have three fat quarter books that I love..Laps From Fats. They are great! The two patterns are from them. The smaller quilt I got out of a magazine...Quilts and More (love that too).

This is my youngests quilt. He thinks he's a cowboy, so I just had to make him a cowboy quilt. This is officially the first quilt that I have completed. Started others before it, but not finished.

The two older boys got the same quilt...just different borders, binding and backing. They were thrilled!

The little girl quilt. Hers ended up being the biggest out of the four. And a lot of fun to make. I was binding this one on Christmas eve...nothing like waiting until the last minute.

I decided to make a blanket for dear hubby for Christmas too. I have made a rag quilt for a baby before. My friend has made a rag quilt blanket with long strips, so I decided to do the same thing. It was super easy and fun to make. I made this on Christmas eve as well. Just shows that it is easy to make.
